Welcome to the Middle of the End of the Road

I can’t believe it’s been over a month since my last post. I know I promised to get back to regular posts, but the holidays are so demanding, what with guests coming to visit and having a rambunctious 2-year-old in the house. It’s either that or my Pocket Frogs/We Rule/Angry Birds addictions. The world may never know.

<shamelessplus> You can at least get a weekly dose of me by suscribing to the Red Wild Show. </shamelessplus>

What I can tell you is that my lack of blog presence is actually a good sign. Those of you that have been with us since the beginning know that this blog is first and foremost about Shannon’s cancer treatments, though it is still evolving. The daily posts of a few months ago were necessitated by the quick learning curve we had to go through as we got her chemotherapy under control. It’s cliche, but no news is often good news.

But now, good news brings me back to the Internets. Tomorrow is Shannon’s last chemo session. (Pause for applause). Numero Seis. We’re obviously expecting the oncologist to run additional tests to make sure everything went as planned, but so far today is a good day. It’s a wonderful way to ring in the new year.

Radiation is still coming in a few weeks, and there’s still the weekly meets with the plastic surgeon regarding reconstruction, but the end of chemo means one less weekly trip to make. As evidence of how much we’ve been the the hospital in the last four months, I am currently the “mayor” of MedCenter One on Foursquare. It will be an even better day when I can no longer make that claim.

Until next time (which won’t be another month from now), keep the good vibes coming. Happy New Year!
